Supporting statement
In the electricity industry, the Company takes the lead and aims to cut the overall CO2 emissions associated with its business activities to zero by 2050, but in order to truly achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the Company needs to steadily operate the businesses in accordance with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 °C target to prevent global warming. The Company is working to shift to zero-carbon power sources including thermal power generation. However, it needs to go beyond its intention not to draw up any new projects unless they comply with national policies and contribute to decarbonization in host countries. It needs to declare a clear management policy not to establish new coal-fired thermal power plants, and shift to an electricity supply system that does not emit CO2.
